Robotic Assisted Joint Replacement

Dr. Rakesh Nair with India's First fully Automated Joint Surgery Robot. Robotic Knee Replacement Surgery in Mumbai.

The Robotic Assisted Joint Replacement system helps surgeons capture digital computed tomography (CT) scans of your knee. This data allows surgeons to determine where to place the knee implant.

CUVIS Joint® – A Cutting-edge Robotic Technology for Artificial Joint Surgery in India

CUVIS Joint robot system for artificial joint surgery is the most advanced surgical equipment capable of 3D pre-planning, virtual surgery and precise cutting to provide accurate and precise surgery results.

A user-friendly surgical robotic system, CUVIS Joint® is innovative, easy-to-use and offers industry-best accuracy and safety for medical procedures.

Times Achiever Award - 2022 for Robotic Knee Surgery.

What Is Robotic Knee Surgery?

In Robotic Total Knee Replacement procedure, a robot is used to take required surgical bone cuts as against conventional manual procedure.

The procedure does not imply that the robot does the whole surgery. Rather, the surgeon utilizes a robotic surgical arm to perform the process, helping in areas that require precision and guiding in small areas.

With this technologically advanced procedure, one can surely expect the best post-surgical outcomes with robot i.e. CUVIS Joint as against manual way of surgeries.

Is robotic surgery really better than conventional manual knee replacement surgery?

When compared to conventional manual knee replacement surgeries, robotic knee replacement has got a lot of advantages in terms of better implant positioning, precise surgical bone cuts, least human intervention, faster recovery and least hospital stay.

It has proved to give better outcomes compared to conventional knee replacement techniques. Considering it’s minimally invasive nature, it causes lesser tissue trauma and thus less blood loss and faster recovery.

How is it better?

CUVIS Joint Robot System results in less trauma caused to bones and tissues. The Cuvis system uses 3Ps, namely Personalized Pre-planning, Pre-selection and Precise Cutting. Way before the actual surgery, a CT scan of patient’s knee creates a 3D model on which the surgeon can plan the entire surgery, including incisions and knee implant. Smart pre-selection allows the surgeon to select the right implant and decides its alignment. All this data is calibrated into the robot and during the surgery CUVIS robotic arm cuts the damaged bone area with unmatched precision. The unique 3P formula significantly eliminates the risk barriers and result in better outcome.

Overview of CUVIS Joint®

Advantages of Robotic Knee Surgery
Robotic knee surgery offers many benefits as observed by the medical fraternity. It has already become a significant aid for surgeons. The benefits observed are:
  • Bone registration using a probe
  • Improved workspace check
  • 3D bone model generation with fast and easy CT image data
  • Ul design considering user convenience
  • Reduces the surgery preparation time - 3D modelling
  • Non-Sterile/Sterile diagnosis.
  • Various cutting options – Full & partial cutting
  • Intra-operative gap check - Pre/Intra/Post
  • Plan changing & gap balancing possible.
